A 74-Year-Old Woman with a Yen to See the World, a Supportive Husband, and a Couple of Backpacks…

All my life, I’ve loved to travel. My dream has been to visit all the countries that interest me on every continent. Until July 2021, however, I’d never left North America.

In Spring of 2021, we could see the world beginning to reopen. Dempsey said, “This year is yours. It’s time to make your travel dream come true.” And so we did!

We’re spending fifteen weeks exploring the world, and you’re invited along.

The Bernina Express

At Torino, we walked out of the Italian train station across a square to the Swiss railway. There we boarded the Bernina Express, described as the most spectacular way to cross the Alps. The panoramic cars travel slowly on an electric, rather than a rack railway. From Torino we traveled to St. Moritz and on to Chur, where we changed trains to continue to Zurich.
This railway has UNESCO World Heritage status. The train negotiates 55 tunnels and 196 bridges and reaches a height of 7,392 feet. The views were amazing and our photos can’t begin to do them justice.
