A 74-Year-Old Woman with a Yen to See the World, a Supportive Husband, and a Couple of Backpacks…

All my life, I’ve loved to travel. My dream has been to visit all the countries that interest me on every continent. Until July 2021, however, I’d never left North America.

In Spring of 2021, we could see the world beginning to reopen. Dempsey said, “This year is yours. It’s time to make your travel dream come true.” And so we did!

We’re spending fifteen weeks exploring the world, and you’re invited along.

White Rock

You know that rare and magical thing that sometimes happens when you meet someone new? Yesterday we drove down to White Rock to have lunch with my Facebook friend, Linda Adsetts, and her husband Marcel. The four of us couldn’t stop talking and sharing until we all reluctantly ended the evening well after dark. We’re hoping we can squeeze in a second visit before we go home to Texas. Here are some pictures of beautiful White Rock. Dempsey and Marcel walking along the shore in White Rock.

White Rock is just across the border from the Peace Arch crossing into Canada. This is Mount Baker. Although you can’t see them, there were quite a few people swimming.

I took this photo standing on what the sign says is the longest pier in Canada. (I’m skeptical.) I was hoping to get a good shot of the Canadian geese, but I see the slowing sinking sun over the Pacific was the real star of the show.

After our trip over the Alps, we took the train into Zurich, nestled in the northern end of Lake Zurich and straddling the Limmat River. All of Switzerland is extraordinarily beautiful, and Zurich combines the pre-medieval history of the old town with lots of energy...
